Hospitalist Care Team
Physicians whose primary professional focus is hospital medicine are called hospitalists. Hospital medicine in the United States is the discipline concerned with the medical care of acutely ill hospitalized patients. The scope of hospital medicine includes acute patient care, teaching, research, and executive leadership related to the delivery of hospital-based care.
An intensivist is a physician (M.D. or D.O.) who specializes in the care of critically ill patients, most often in the intensive care unit (ICU). Intensivists can be internists or internal medicine sub-specialists (most often pulmonologists), anesthesiologists, emergency medicine physicians, pediatricians (including neonatologists), or surgeons who have completed a fellowship in critical care medicine. The intensivist must be competent not only in a broad spectrum of conditions common among critically ill patients but also with the technical procedures and devices (i.e. mechanical ventilators) used in the intensive care setting.
We have created a Multi-Disciplinary Hospitalist Care Team to meet the challenges of Hospital care in the current healthcare environment.
Our team consists of Primary Care/Internal Medicine Physicians, Board Certified Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNP’s), a Registered Clinical Pharmacist, a Board Certified Intensivist Physician, and Board Certified Specialty Physicians.
Our Care Team is available to patients of LoCicero Medical Group as well as patients of other primary care practices. Our goal is to provide efficient and timely care to patients with acute medical problems in a hospital setting, and to assist with the transition of care to the patient’s home or a skilled nursing facility. Presently we are on staff at Tampa General Hospital, HCA South Tampa Hospital, BayCare St. Joseph’s Hospital – Main, BayCare St. Joseph’s Hospital – North, AdventHealth Tampa, AdventHealth Carrollwood, HCA Brandon Regional Hospital, Kindred Hospital Central Tampa, and Kindred Hospital Bay Area.
